Lottographix, Inc. Selects AMULET Development Team To Build Press Control Software
in Visual Basic
Los Angeles, Calif. -- AMULET Consulting is pleased to announce its selection by
Lottographix, Inc. to develop custom application software to control industrial
printing presses that print state lottery tickets for Arizona, California, Idaho,
New Mexico, Oregon, Washington and soon Kentucky.
Lottographix utilizes a variety of Microsoft technologies, including Windows NT
Server 4.0, Windows 95 workstations, the Office 97 suite, and Access 97. The database
backend for this application is based entirely on the Jet Engine. An ActiveX control
from Mabry Software will be used to print barcodes for boxes of completed lottery
tickets.
Lottographix is a Los Angeles based business printing concern, specializing in printing
state lottery tickets. The company’s operation runs three custom configured Harris
industrial printing presses. Each press is controlled by its own small-scale computer
network consisting of a DOS machine running real-time software that communicates
with a special press controller add-in board manufactured by Miranova Systems, and
a Windows 95 print server. Each press network is in turn part of a larger Windows
NT Server domain servicing the entire enterprise.
The AMULET team is to build a suite of press control components written in Microsoft
Visual Basic 5.0, that manage the printing of multiple, concurrent ticket rolls.
Also included will be a reporting subsystem developed in Access 97.
"Our lottery business is expanding in leaps and bounds, as we’re trying to add Kentucky
to our current list of six states," said Ron Clark, President of Lottographix. "We
require robust and expandable software support to allow the business to continue
to grow and we liked AMULET’s track record for providing leading edge solutions
using the latest technologies." In a related project, AMULET will develop an entire
print-shop business application in Access 97 for creating and managing estimates
and print jobs.
AMULET specializes in outsourcing of enterprise software projects such as LAN and
client/server database applications, so the Lottographix development project fit
well within the company’s area of expertise. Mr. Dan D. Gutierrez, AMULET’s CEO,
added "We are always pleased to find technology solutions to help a growing business
find its stride. The fact that this client prints lottery tickets, a high-profile
business, is even more gratifying. We’ve worked hard to provide the global business
community with quality development services using Microsoft network and database
technologies. We are anxious to apply our years of experience to help Lottographix
achieve its goals."
