Los Angeles, Calif. -- AMULET Development Corp. reports the completion of a significant business intelligence (BI) consulting project for Viking River Cruises, Inc. Viking is the world’s largest river cruise line, and was established by a Scandinavian and Dutch consortium. The company maintains a fleet of 25 ships servicing locations in Europe, China, and Russia. Viking’s U.S. headquarter is in Woodland Hills, California. The underlying factor for engaging AMULET BI services was the unprecedented growth of Viking’s business which led to the need for better optimization of the company’s strategic data assets. In order to properly manage the growth, Viking’s management recognized the need to build the foundation for an enterprise-wide data warehouse to support various departments. AMULET’s job was to assess the current data assets and make recommendations for regrouping and consolidating data sources for integration in a single data warehouse.

AMULET’s BI strategies team spent an extended period at the Viking headquarters meeting with various department heads and integral personnel to gain a high-level view of how best to utilize BI technology in the organization. The objectives of the project were several fold. First, the AMULET team performed an analysis on the existing systems, processes, and data sources. The next task was to identify needs, opportunities, and risks. AMULET also gathered and derived functional requirements for the BI deployment. Finally, the team delivered documented analysis, functional requirements, roadmap, and recommendations of alternate solutions. The BI implementation project is to include an enterprise-wide data warehouse, enterprise portal application, data cleansing components, reporting, and analytics.

The deliverable for the BI consulting project was a complete set of reports documenting the opportunity for engaging BI using the Fujitsu Productivity Center methodology and documentation framework for the software development lifecycle. In culmination of the project, AMULET made a formal presentation to the Viking executive team.
