AMULET Selected by UCLA School of the Arts

Database-Driven Intranet Application for Student Recruitment

Los Angeles, Calif. -- AMULET Development Corp. is pleased to announce its selection by the Office of Recruitment and Outreach at the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture or “UCLA Arts” for custom Web development services in support of the department’s student recruitment process. The department contracted with AMULET to build the new Inquiry Tracking System (ITS) intranet software application where specific art department staff members may enter and track student inquiries regarding educational programs. The software will include custom database design, Web data entry forms, database queries, and reports designed to streamline and improve the efficiency of the student recruitment process. The new database application will be designed to save costs associated with staff resources while increasing efficiency and accuracy for this important functional area within the department.

UCLA Arts is dedicated to training exceptional artists, performers, architects and scholars who are enriched by a global view of the arts and prepared to serve as cultural leaders of the 21st century. The school offers undergraduate degree programs in its Departments of Art, Design, Ethnomusicology, Music, and World Arts and Cultures. The Department of Architecture and Urban Design offers degree programs at the graduate level only. The department’s website is found at: www.arts.ucla.edu.

AMULET’S Development Services

AMULET plans to automate the student inquiry tracking process by developing the new ITS database-driven Web software application using the Macromedia, Inc. (Nasdaq: MACR) Cold Fusion MX Server programming environment, in conjunction with the MySQL relational database management software. The multi-user Web application shall operate on a dedicated server platform running the Apache Web server software. The ITS software will be accessible from the department’s intranet infrastructure which is securely available to department staff.

Gutierrez, AMULET’s CEO. “Over the years, we’ve completed database and Internet projects for a wide cross-section of UCLA departments: Associated Students, Events, Athletics, Health Policy Research, Medicine, Psychology, Classics, and UCLA Extension.”

“We needed to complement our traditional catalog sales with a scalable e-commerce solution. We’ve been very pleased with our selection of Microsoft Commerce Server, and specifically AMULET’s ability to develop many custom features within this environment. The AMULET engineering team proved to be real pros. Highly recommended.”
