Database-Driven Intranet Application for Community Action Partnership
Los Angeles, Calif. -- AMULET Development Corp. is pleased to announce the launch
of a state-wide intranet software application for the Community Action Partnership
(CAP) of Idaho. The custom Web development services provided by AMULET are in support
of the non-profit organization’s activities for economically and socially disadvantaged.
Eight agencies across the state now access the application. The main agency in Lewiston,
Idaho originally contracted with AMULET to build a new Intake Database intranet
software application where a distributed group of staff members may enter and track
case information – household demographics, service referrals, income detail, energy
assistance, and case notes. Due to the success and acceptance of the software, CAP
contracted with AMULET to expand the application to support multiple agencies across
the state, and extend the feature-set to include enhanced statistical reporting.
The software includes custom database design, Web data entry forms, database queries,
and reports designed to streamline and improve the efficiency of the case management
process. The state-wide application was designed to save costs associated with staff
resources while increasing efficiency and accuracy for this important functional
area within the organization.
Incorporated in 1966 as a private, non-profit organization, CAP serves the economically
and socially disadvantaged by responding to their specific needs, enabling them
to become self-sufficient and to reach their full potential through individual,
social, economic, and educational development. CAP is located in Lewiston, Idaho
with their website found at: www.acommunityactionpartnership.org.
AMULET’S Development Services
The CAP Intake intranet application is based on technologies that include Microsoft
Windows 2000 Server, IIS Web Server, the Active Server Pages (ASP) programming environment,
and the SQL Server 2000 relational database management software. The main goal of
the project was to provide a scalable application that can parallel the organization’s
growth. The multi-user Web application operates on a dedicated server platform hosted
in-house at the main CAP facility. The application is securely available to the
various remote locations of the CAP organization using SSL connections. To address
privacy concerns, selected data items are stored in an encrypted form in the SQL
database.
A Word from AMULET’S CEO
“We’re excited to launch the expanded and enhanced CAP state-wide intranet system
for a valued client firm,” says Dan D. Gutierrez, AMULET’s CEO. “The organization
tested the waters with a local browser-based application, and found that users readily
adapted to this environment. We were pleased to extend our relationship with CAP
to build out the software to accommodate a state-wide user base.”
